Before You Start: Three Important Checks
- The name on your profile matches the name on your wallet: Airtel Money is officially registered against your NRC. If your betting profile carries a shortened first name or a maiden name, the mismatch may not stop the deposit โ but it will absolutely delay your verification or a later withdrawal. Sort it out when you register, not later.
- Your wallet covers the amount plus any charge: Make sure your Airtel wallet covers the deposit amount and any network fee or levy displayed before you confirm. A wallet holding exactly 20 ZMW may not successfully fund a 20 ZMW deposit due to network transfer fees.
- The number on the account is the number on the wallet: Wallet transactions are matched securely by number. For your safety, a deposit from a number other than the one registered on your profile will trigger an additional security review.
Step-by-Step Deposit via Airtel Money
Every official deposit Airtel Money Paripesa accepts starts in the secure cashier inside your own account, never directly in your wallet app. Do not send money manually to a number given in a message or a group chat. A cashier deposit is trackable and secure; a private wallet transfer is not.
- Open the cashier in your account and select Deposit.
- Choose Airtel Money to begin your transaction.
- Enter the amount โ the Paripesa Airtel Money minimum is 20 ZMW โ and check that the phone number shown matches your wallet.
- Approve the request on your handset and enter your Airtel Money PIN.
- Wait for the confirmation SMS from Airtel and keep the transaction ID.
Crucial Tip: A missed or expired approval request is the most common reason a first deposit does not complete. Airtel sends a USSD prompt to your phone asking you to approve the payment with your PIN. That prompt has a very short lifetime. If you switch away, dismiss it, or wait too long, the deposit simply never completes. Also, save that SMS: it carries the transaction ID, which is the most useful thing our support team needs if something goes wrong.
Limits, Speed, and Charges
| Item | Airtel Money Details (ZMW) |
|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | 20 ZMW |
| Minimum withdrawal | 100 ZMW |
| Deposit credited | Usually within minutes of USSD confirmation |
| Withdrawal processed | Usually within 24 hours (up to 72 hours max) |
| Airtel’s own charge | Deducted by Airtel directly, scales with amount sent |
| Statutory betting levy | 5% on deposits and withdrawals (Effective 1 January 2026) |
Two figures in that table matter most for Airtel Money accounts. The deposit floor and the withdrawal floor differ: you can put 20 ZMW in, but you cannot take 20 ZMW out. Keep this in mind if you are testing our Zambian betting platform with small sums.
Withdrawing to Your Airtel Money Wallet
To comply with financial regulations, Airtel Money withdrawal requests return to the exact wallet you deposited from. The minimum withdrawal is 100 ZMW, and your account identity verification (KYC) has to be cleared first. Most eligible withdrawals are processed by our team within 24 hours.
There is a cost after the payout that people sometimes forget to count: money in your digital wallet is not yet physical cash. Taking it out through a local agent carries Airtel’s own cash-out charge, which rises with the amount. Always compare the current Airtel cash-out tariff before splitting a large withdrawal into several smaller transactions.
Deposit Debited but Not Credited: What to Do
If your wallet balance drops but your betting balance does not move, the instinct is to try again. Do not deposit a second time. You will be tracing two payments instead of one, and if both land eventually, you have deposited twice what you meant to.
Instead, find the transaction ID in Airtel’s confirmation SMS, check your Paripesa betting transaction history (rather than only the main balance), and give it a few minutes. Network or payment-provider delays are common during peak hours.
If it still has not arrived, contact our support team with four things: the transaction ID, the exact amount, the time of the transfer, and the number it came from. Without the transaction ID, our team must perform a slower manual trace. Do not delete the SMS until the money is visibly on your betting balance.
Cross-Network Costs and Transaction Levies (2026)
For players topping up their wallets, moving money into an Airtel wallet from another network can cost more than a same-network send. Always check the fee displayed before confirming.
Furthermore, a Mobile Money Transaction Levy may apply depending on how your network categorizes the transaction. The 2026 rates start at K0.32 and rise with the amount sent. For a full breakdown of these government tax bands, please review our comprehensive payment methods page.
Airtel Money operates under Bank of Zambia oversight. Airtel sets its own tariffs, while statutory levies are set by Zambian law. We recommend checking both against your wallet statement so you know exactly where your funds are going.
